My Teaching Philosophy

Within a classroom, many different means are necessary to allow for a great learning experience. The various and always apparent needs of the student is the main priority. Respect, trust, friendship, independence, encouragement, as well as self-confidence are all necessary aspects within a classroom. For a classroom to be a magical place, students need to feel as though they are somewhere where they hold the key to knowledge.

A teacher learns side by side with their students and with that being said, a teaching philosophy is constantly changing. Vygotsky’s Social constructivism is an approach or theory that I strongly believe in. Students’ constructing their own learning and while making it meaningful parallels teachers who are constantly refocusing their knowledge to coincide with their students as well as with the ever-changing world.

Within my classroom reading and writing will always come first. By doing this, students will be drawn in to this exceptional place where comprehension allows for knowledge as well as entertainment to build. My philosophy that corresponds with teaching English Language Arts introduces reading and writing as a fixed learning that must always coincide. Reading and writing must be seen as one aspect of Language Arts where emotions and feelings are exposed and where information is learned and processed. Consequently, students will be able to learn in a meaningful context, where reading and writing will become a part of their daily lives. For mathematics, students will learn by doing. Interaction with mathematics will become a routine within my own classroom, where mathematics will become relatable and understandable.

By creating a supportive community within the classroom, students will achieve higher goals as well as learn more about themselves in the process. Therefore, the importance of creating a magical classroom rests upon allowing for students to learn in a meaningful context.
